Detroit Business Center is your official online networking platform for local entrepreneurs and business development. Challenge: Local entrepreneur veteran, Andre Bartell, of the iconic Detroit business family, “The Bartells”, wanted to build a platform that connected local businesses together and close the digital divide within their communities. Bartell claims that most small businesses suffer from poor planning and a lack of resources. Throughout our research, we’ve found that most small businesses are undermanned, overwhelmed, under-capitalized, and usually started by bootstrapping. 

Our Solution: Through collaboration and coordination with other multicultural CEOs we’ve built an ecosystem that provides customer acquisition support, expert consulting, and a single digital platform that allows small businesses to access all our resources at once and brand. This unique directory software provides each small business with their own digital profile where they can showcase custom content like blog posts, podcasts, videos, and more. This allows users to grow their digital presence and market their respective brands. On the backend of each profile, features a toolbox where business owners can request business consulting, financing, and software development at the click of a button. For entrepreneurs and other business owners, operators, and professionals, a DBC membership features tailored benefits exclusively designed to promote growth, increase customer engagement, and expand your economic reach, influence, and power.

Digital Countermeasures, Inc. is an Information Security company specializing in Information Assurance and Privacy Awareness Education. DCM provides IT Security & Privacy Awareness Education in order to create the next future multicultural cybersecurity leaders. DCM’s mission is to educate clients with comprehensive curriculums of information security principles and best practices based on globally-recognized standards about protecting assets.

Dr. Terrance Dillard, full-time professor; founder, and owner of DCM seeks to launch a new web presence that identifies who DCM is, what the business does, and who it serves and benefits.

Challenge: Dr. Dillard feels his current site: https://www.dcmeasures.com/ was outdated, and did not represent his business well either visually or in terms of needed functionality. It pained him to refer to it, so much so that he is ready for an immediate overhaul.

Our Solution: Dr. Dillard contracted us to execute a complete brand redevelopment including his logo, color pallet of his brand. We also provided copywriting and public relations support creating all of the new written content for his new website along with several written articles to go in his Insights/Blog section of his new website. Each blog covered Dr. Dillard’s Diversity & Inclusion empowerment mission and goal to create the next multicultural Cybersecurity leaders that would help impact and change the high demand industry of Information Security & Technology. We also gave Dr. Dillard a photoshoot giving him a refreshed professional image to go along with his refreshed and interactive website and brand.

Dayton Business Center is a small business ecosystem development Web, IOS, & Android Software and the official online networking platform for local entrepreneurs and business development. A small business development digital resource center designed to give Dayton’s local stakeholders access, visibility, and control to guide their local businesses and community to economic growth.

Our platform aggregates all business development offerings and resources available from multiple sources in each of the surrounding counties including Local consulting business services, SBDCs throughout the area, Chambers of Commerce, SBA, PTAC, NSBA, SCORE, EMSDC, and other organizations.

Challenge: Most Small businesses suffer from poor planning, with a lack of resources. We’ve found that most are undermanned, overwhelmed, under-capitalized, and usually started by bootstrapping. 

Our Solution: Dayton Business Center powers solutions to drive multicultural business and community growth within the Dayton region. A small business development digital resource center designed to give local stakeholders access, visibility, and control to guide Dayton’s multicultural businesses and community economic growth. We’ll be able to access our business localization data and analytics in a private view Dashboard that gives community stakeholders access to relevant data they can use to learn about how to support and help local businesses.

Background: Can you name all members of the Wu-Tang Clan? This question is how the journey of University of Dope came to life. University of Dope is the first game to celebrate hip-hop culture. UOD’s target audience mainly consists of urban millennials and anyone else that adores “The Golden Age of Hip-Hop.” University of Dope creates a lively environment for game nights and other festivities.

The creators of University Of dope are A.V. “$upreme” Perkins, a DIY blogger, and Marian “Skinni Bee” Andoh, a project manager. The two hip-hop enthusiasts became friends at Central Connecticut State University back in 2004 and have been debating music ever since. They created the University of Dope brand when A.V. asked Marian to name all the members of the Wu-Tang Clan…while drunk. She ended up naming them all and thought it would be fun to turn into a quiz game that they now share with the entire world.

Challenge: The original University Of Dope WordPress website was bogged down with broken plugins and was loading so slow that it was impeding their e-commerce sales transactions. 

Solution: LunarX was contracted to fix the speed and responsiveness issues on the current University of Dope WordPress site. Once the issues were fixed, we worked with the University Of Dope team to develop an even more beautiful, responsive & user-friendly e-commerce friendly website. The newer and faster website assisted in online sales that surpassed the founders financial goal by 700%.

Background: BLK GLD is the home of Black Excellence. BLK GLD is also the media arm of LunarX’s multicultural consulting arm, National Black Business Directory. BLK GLD was created to be the centralized hub for financial literacy, business intelligence, & political news created to enlighten the Black community. The BLK GLD digital platform economically empowers Black entrepreneurs through brand awareness and development while creating a media culture to educate and inform.

BLK GLD brings more than a dozen Black business news and media outlets including Bloomberg, Wall Street Journal, Black Enterprise, and Blavity all in one place for readers. The app had more than 10,000 downloads and reached as high as #27 on the App Store’s News category rankings two days after its launch.

Challenge: There is a significant lack of financial literacy, political & business leadership within the Black community. This lack of leadership deprives Black communities of cohesive strategy and empowerment that exacerbates economic disenfranchisement.

Solution: The BLK GLD media app was created to aggregate financial news from Black-owned, geopolitical & international business news entities. The app’s goal is to increase every user’s business acumen and empower them to pursue their own businesses and investments.

  • Downloads by users across the African Diaspora in over 10 countries.
  • BLK GLD brand has over 15,000 highly engaged followers across both Facebook and Instagram

Background: Before running a successful campaign, Willis Blackshear Jr. was an outreach specialist for the Montgomery County Auditor’s office in Dayton, Ohio, and son of former County Recorder Willis Blackshear Sr. He ran as a Democrat in the November 2020 general election for state representative for Ohio’s 39th House District. The district — which is overwhelmingly Democratic — includes most of the city of Dayton and Jefferson Township. Blackshear Jr. ended up winning his campaign by a margin of 79% to 20%.

Challenge: Willis Blackshear Jr. needed a strong digital presence that would allow his campaign to effectively reach the multicultural community in Ohio’s 39th House District.

Solution: Blackshear Jr.’s campaign manager reached out to LunarX and contracted us to build the candidate a strong online presence. Our team developed the copy and implemented branding and imagery to create a stand-out, responsive website covering Blackshear Jr.’s unique story and background. LunarX also created web pages devoted to his campaign promises, integrated an ActBlue donation payment processor to the website & created an intake form on his site for volunteers to join his campaign. Lastly, we helped the Blackshear Jr. campaign launch their social media strategy on Facebook by applying strong branding and messaging that reflected the website we built for the campaign. Once the campaign Facebook was launched, LunarX facilitated rapid follower growth strategies to gain hundreds of new followers in two weeks.

Background: RVZilla is a comprehensive online platform and marketplace to connect RV renters and owners. Selections include vintage Airstreams, toy haulers, fifth wheelers, Class A, B, and C of RVs, as well as garden variety trailers and motorhomes. Focusing on the end-user and experience, RVZilla helps campers create precious memories with friends and family in the great outdoors.

RVZilla is one of the latest entrants to the sharing economy, also called the peer-to-peer (P2P) economy, because buyers and sellers negotiate terms directly online. Just as AirBnB connects private homeowners with consumers seeking lodging, RVZilla facilitates transactions between RV owners and campers. For RV owners, joining RVZilla’s platform is a way to earn some income from their RV & camper vehicles; for campers, it gives them the ability to easily rent an RV and enjoy quality time with family and friends.

Challenge: LunarX set out to create a comprehensive platform that included the following attributes:

Solution: LunarX was contracted to create RVZilla an online marketplace that connects RV owners, renters & dealerships. We managed and led the RVZilla brand design & architecture, including the RVZilla official logo design. LunarX also led developing the investor and consumer front-facing website which included providing all the imagery, copywriting & brand implementation. Digital marketing development and brand awareness was a part of LunarX’s solution by creating a comprehensive social media, email marketing & search engine optimization strategy. To top it all off, LunarX championed the iOS and Android software development and launch.

Background: Votrlytics is the premier, integrated communications and public relations political agency arm of LunarX. Votrlytics delivers wins for progressive candidates, causes & issues by transforming ideas into captivating communications and user experiences that ignite tremendous reach. Votrlytics utilizes data, technology, digital and print communications & public relations campaigns.

Challenge: In July 2020 we were introduced by Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley to DSPolitical, one of the nation’s most successful Democratic Political consulting firms. They made us aware that there aren’t any Black-owned digital political consulting agencies and that they’d like to help us get into the Democratic campaign consulting industry. We also learned that entities like the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee are facing scrutiny because they aren’t providing digital, branding, printing or advertising contracts to any Black-owned firms. 

Solution: Our team at LunarX decided as a team it’s time we try to capture the Democratic digital consulting space by using and leveraging all the service offerings we already have within our consulting arsenal to launch a digital political consulting branded division of our agency. We created a sub-team aligned with political campaign strategists, each of whom have extensive experience working in the political and social change sector. From local options and levies, to presidential campaigns, we have experience across the political spectrum. Our team has implemented strategies to build voter participation and expand the voter electorate. Our programming has trained hundreds of volunteers to register over 10,000 voters across the country. Background: The Aware Brand inspires people working to elevate their self-awareness, community awareness & global awareness at large. This streetwear brand combines contemporary, urban fashion with a social mission of self-identity and conscious enlightenment.

Challenge: LunarX wanted to ensure that The Aware Brand wasn’t just another urban clothing line. Positioning in this crowded marketplace was key. With an initial rebrand of their original signature “eye heart logo,” we established a series of fashion collections that featured signature apparel pieces each with an underlying message.

Solution: LunarX took our talents to Instagram to build the brand’s online tribe and educate target audiences on awareness. We strategically drove customers back to the merchandise and to build an online community.
